Imagery Intelligence
Apogee has the experience necessary to extract the right information from the right sensors required to support your requirements. Apogee postgraduate Image Analysts are expert in SAR and EO data and analysis. Our software engineers have developed proprietary image processing techniques and software; including modules for change detection, SAR processing and analysis, spectral analysis agribusiness, and emergency services.
Research & Development
Apogee is a science and engineer based company and as such has been actively engaged in research and development programs for a decade. We welcome approaches from researchers with interesting and challenging projects
Current Projects
- SAR polarimetry and interferometry for Vegetation Assessment
- Maritime Monitoring: Apogee has developed an advanced ship detection system called DEEPBLUE™
- Information extraction from IFSAR data for hydrology, forestry and environmental management
- Apogee’s participation in the SOAR program with the Canadian Space Agency and MDA.
- Satellite Calibration: Apogee’s past involvement in calibration and validation activities for satellites such as EROS-A/B and ALOS-Palsar, and current work with the new Type 1+ IFSAR data collected over Australia. These activities bring Apogee into very close contact with world leaders in advanced and new sensor systems.
- Information extraction automation: Apogee has developed automated aerial imagery processing chain and feature extraction
John S. Douglas
A graduate of Sydney University, John has been involved in Australian Remote Sensing Developments since the early 1970’s. In 1974 he studied Remote sensing in the US and Canada on a Churchill Fellowship.
In 1975-76 John led a Multi disciplinary team to validate LandSat Imagery over SA. It was the first State wide ecological survey using satellite imagery conducted in Australia. The vegetation maps produced are still being used by the South Australian Government today.
John is an Executive Member of the Australian Space Industry Chamber of Commerce, and a Founding Board Member of the ITR (Institute for Telecommunications Research).
Chairman of the 4th Australasian Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Conference, and on the planning committee of the 10th Australasian Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Conference held in Adelaide in August 2000.
In 1995 John left the government to establish his own company Apogee Imaging International. Since then Apogee Imaging International has consolidated its position and is now an established data provider for this region.
